Free PC remote control: what you can do without paying anything
Plenty of remote-control apps call a cut-down demo "free": a 5-minute session, a watermark on top, or a screen asking for your card before it lets you do anything. In PController the trial is 7 days with everything unlocked and no card — internet, audio, sessions with no time limit. Here's what you can do in those 7 days and what it costs to continue.
What the 7-day trial includes
Full control
Mouse (touch trackpad), clicks, scroll, drag, virtual keyboard, shortcuts. You close programs, move files and type as if you were sitting there.
1080p video
During the trial you get up to 1080p. Sharp enough to browse, use desktop apps and work on documents: you watch a render, a download or a backup from the sofa.
Local network, and the internet too
On your own WiFi network there's no router to touch and no static IP to arrange, and the screen never leaves your house. During the trial you also get the encrypted tunnel to connect from anywhere.
Up to 3 PCs
During the trial you link up to three: the one at home, the one at work and one more, all from the same phone. Afterwards, Pro keeps three PCs reachable over the internet. Local doesn't cap how many you use on your own network, but that's as far as it reaches.
Sessions with no limit
No time cut-off, during the trial or after it: neither Local nor Pro caps how long a session runs.
All five themes
Matrix, Mono, Cyber, Neon and Amber. All five are available on any paid plan.
What happens when the 7 days are up
On day 8 nothing is charged automatically: you never entered a card, so there's nothing to charge. The account is left without a licence and you choose how to continue.
- Local — $10, paid once: you control your PC from your phone as long as both are on the same network. 1080p, as many PCs as you like on that network, sessions with no time limit, invitations and no watermark. It doesn't expire, doesn't renew and isn't a subscription.
- Pro — $5.99/month or $39/year: everything in Local plus the encrypted tunnel to connect from any network without opening ports or running a VPN, the PC's audio (meetings, music, video) and three PCs reachable over the internet. Spectator / Co-pilot invitations, which let someone into your PC without sharing credentials, come with Local already.
- Premium — $9.99/month: adds 4K, multi-monitor and ten PCs reachable over the internet.
- Lifetime — $199, paid once: the whole of Premium, permanently —4K, multi-monitor and 10 PCs— and it's the only one that doesn't need Local. Limited to 500 units during launch.
When does moving to Pro make sense?
Pro costs USD 5.99/month, or USD 39/year — that works out at $3.25/month. It makes sense if:
- Internet tunnel (encrypted, no open ports): you left a file at home and send it from the office in 2 minutes.
- PC audio: you follow a meeting or a movie from another room, with the PC's sound.
- 3 PCs reachable over the internet: home, work and one more, from the same phone and from any network (Local only reaches the ones on your own network).
- Co-pilot invitations: you fix your mum's PC without dictating anything over the phone and without handing over your password.
- 1080p with no watermark: readable text and smooth video.
If you're not sure, try it. The 7 days start from your account and ask for no card. With no card on file nothing is charged when it ends: you pick a plan whenever you want, or you pick none.
And if you don't want another subscription?
There are two one-off payments. Local is USD 10 and lets you control your PC on a local network permanently. Lifetime is USD 199 paid once and gives you the whole of Premium permanently, with no need to buy Local: it works out at 20 months of Premium. There are 500 units during launch, with a 14-day refund. The details are on the Lifetime page.
Is the Local plan safe to use?
Yes. Security doesn't depend on the plan: Local uses the same token authentication and the same session isolation as Pro. On Local the traffic never leaves your own network; on Pro it travels through a tunnel encrypted with TLS 1.3.
